As I've de-cluttered and really tried to only keep things that I either love or have a functional purpose, I've had in mind a vision for what I want my home to look like. This does mean adding new pieces that are more our style in place of some of the pieces we weren't/aren't in love with.
I have found this beautiful dark-stained antique buffet at a local antique store that I really want in place of the oak hutch we currently have. I'm not a big fan of oak. The color it is stained is usually too orange for my taste and I'm not a big fan of the grain. On Rehab Addict, Nicole Curtis talks about how a lot of the older homes have white trim because women wanted something other than what their moms had. Maybe that's where my love of dark wood or white wood comes from....my mom loves oak.
Anyway, as I've started to dream about having this antique buffet in place of the oak hutch (which if you need one, shoot me an email. LOL!), I've also started to dream about styling it. A few years ago I bought my husband a monogrammed whisky decanter with matching glasses, and I think that this Brookhaven tray from Painted Fox would be the perfect place to house those on the buffet.
I love the subtle nod to a horse bit that the tray has. I think it says farmhouse without screaming it. I'm also starting to really like small touches of copper here and there. I know I've been seeing it a lot lately, and if you follow House 214, then you have definitely seen the timeless appeal of copper.
Hopefully soon, I'll be able to share this buffet and the style dreams I have for it! But for now, I'm going to have to keep designing in my head...at least until I can get the hutch sold.
What do you think about this tray? How would you style it?
